Data we process
Technical logs
Like any website, our host (Vercel Inc.) records technical logs (IP address, date, page requested, browser) to keep the service secure and working. This data is kept for a limited period set by the host and is not used to profile you. It may be processed outside Canada, including in the United States.
Emails
If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply. They are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted.
Tools
The calculators run in your browser. The market-entry checklist saves your progress in your device’s local storage; you can clear it at any time by deleting the site’s data in your browser.
Photos
Travel blog photos are served by Unsplash (images.unsplash.com). As with any image request, your browser sends Unsplash your IP address and browser details. No cookie is set by these images.
Cookies and trackers
We use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC) to measure traffic, only if you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit. Without consent, no measurement script is loaded and no analytics cookie is set.
- Purpose: understand which pages and tools are used to improve the site. No advertising and no ad profiling (Google signals disabled).
- Data: pages viewed, traffic source, device type, approximate country, anonymous events (e.g. “tool used”). Values entered in our tools are never sent.
- Cookies:
_gaand_ga_*, up to 13 months; data kept for 14 months in Google Analytics. - Transfers: data may be processed in the United States by Google.
- Withdrawal: the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page lets you change your mind at any time.
Your choice (accepted or refused) and its date are kept in your browser’s local storage so we do not ask again on every visit.
Fonts are hosted on our own servers: no request is sent to Google Fonts.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (Canadian privacy laws, Quebec’s Law 25, the GDPR in Europe), you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent. Write to us at the address above. You can also contact the relevant data protection authority (for example the CNIL in France or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia).
Security
The site is served over HTTPS only. We collect as little data as possible, which remains the best protection.
Security incidents
If a breach of your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the people affected and the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, and keep a record of incidents.
