Contribute to FranceCanada: articles and companies
Know Canada, have an experience to share or found a useful service? Pitch an article or suggest a company to help French readers plan a move, immigration project or trip.
Write for French readers planning a project in Canada
Newcomers, residents, travellers and professionals with relevant experience are welcome to pitch. A firsthand account, practical guide or itinerary is useful when it answers a concrete question and helps readers take their next step.
- Settling in: finding housing, arrival steps, work, family life and choosing a province.
- Immigrating: experience of a pathway, with the status, province and dates clearly identified.
- Travelling: itineraries, seasons, bookings, transport and properly documented budgets.
- Business: selling, invoicing, exporting, hiring or starting an activity between France and Canada.
Start with a short pitch
Send a working title, intended audience, the question you will answer, a brief outline and a short account of your experience. Include key sources, the province and the date of the information. Links to your writing or photos can support the pitch; a finished article is not needed for the first exchange.
What makes an article useful
Start with what a reader knows from France and explain what changes in Canada. Put steps in order, date amounts and link important rules to their official source. Distinguish personal experience from general rules, and describe a service as tested only if you have actually used it.
Pitch original material you have the right to submit. Identify image credits and permissions. Publication terms, the byline, any editing and any remuneration must be agreed before publication; submitting a pitch does not transfer your rights.
Suggest a company that helps readers
Found a bank, insurer, housing service, transport provider, mobile operator or professional who makes a Canadian project easier? Explain the need they address. You may also suggest your own company, provided you clearly identify your role.
- The name, official website, public contact details and service offered.
- Provinces served, available languages and intended users: visitors, working holiday participants, students, newcomers, families or businesses.
- Public prices, eligibility conditions and, for an offer, the precise benefit and end date.
- Your experience of the service, your connection to the company and any bonus, commission or other interest connected with the suggestion.
- For a regulated activity, the public register where the professional’s authorization can be checked.
How submissions are considered
Thomas Tremblay, FranceCanada’s publisher, considers reader relevance, available experience or sources and what the submission adds to existing pages. An exchange may help refine the angle, request public supporting information or suggest edits before possible publication.
A submission does not guarantee publication or a recommendation. A company cannot buy a place or better ranking in a comparison. Any accepted paid link is disclosed under our commercial-links policy.
