Commercial links disclosure
How Passerelle Canada is funded and how affiliate or partner links are disclosed.
FranceCanada is free and carries no advertising. Some links do earn us a commission when you use them: referral codes and links to Amazon.ca. You pay nothing extra, and no partner can buy a place in our comparisons.
Which links earn us money
- Referrals. When a guide reaches the point where you will need a service (car sharing when you land, a Canadian bank account, an eSIM), we may offer our referral link or code. If you sign up with it, the partner pays us a bonus, and you often get a welcome offer in return, such as a credit or an account-opening bonus. The card shows the offer's conditions and the date we last checked it.
- Amazon.ca. When an article suggests a specific item (a plug adapter, a winter coat), the link may go through the Amazon.ca Associates program. If you buy, Amazon pays us a percentage of the sale. You pay the price shown on Amazon.ca.
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
We do not publish sponsored articles. If that ever changes, they will say so in the headline.
How to spot them
- Every referral card and every Amazon selection is labelled “Partner link”, with a one-line explanation and a link to this page, before you click.
- Amazon selections also show Amazon's required sentence right below the products.
- All of these links, including those within an article's text, carry the
rel="sponsored"attribute. You can't see it on screen, but it tells search engines the link is paid.
What a partner cannot buy
- A place in a comparison. No partner pays to appear in a comparison, a table or a ranking, or to be placed higher in one. If the option without a paid link suits you better, that is the one we recommend.
- A review. We recommend a partner for what it does well, say why, and point out its limits. A link that pays is never the reason for a recommendation.
- A made-up test. We never claim to have tested a product or service when we haven't.
When an offer ends, we take the card off the site. If you spot an expired offer or conditions that no longer match, let us know. These commitments complement our editorial policy.
